Privacy Policy

Who we are

The website address is: http://donethatbeenthere.com.

What personal data this website collects and why

Done That Been There is only able to collect your personal data because you chose to use this website and/or provide these details by e.g. leaving me a comment.

I do my utmost best to treat your data as secure and safe as possible and do not share any of the information with third parties for commercial goals. By using this website, you hereby consent to the Privacy Policy as outlined below.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the website, it collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. However, this website also allows visitors to leave comments anonymously.

When you leave a comment on this website, you have the option to fill in your name, website and email address. The first two data fields, and possibly including your Gravatar profile photo, will be visible to all visitors of this website, but the email address will only be visible to the admin team (which is myself and my technical consultant Eric Scott from Day For Night) and will not be used for other purposes nor sold on to third parties.

You can tick the option to receive a notification of follow-up comments by email, which obviously requires you to submit your email address to the website.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on this website you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, the site will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, the website will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

This website enables visitors to share content from this site on social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, LinkedIn and Pinterest via sharing buttons. When you use these sharing buttons, a third-party cookie is installed. Please read the privacy policies of these social media sites to ensure that you are aware of your rights and the usage purposes, in particular advertising, of browsing information they may collect via these application buttons.

If you would rather not have any cookies installed in your browser, you can refuse these cookies by changing your browser settings.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this website sometimes include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

This website uses the Jetpack plugin for measuring visitor statistics. It allows general insight in the number of visitors, the country of origin, which articles and blog posts have been read on a specific day or within a certain period of time, and the average amount of pages a user visits. None of this information can be linked to one another or to a specific visitor.

The plugin also enables visitors to subscribe to the website to receive an update by email when a new blog post has been published, or for WordPress users to subscribe to the blog so it appears in their Reader.

Who I share your data with

All comments left on this website are scanned by the plugin Askimet with the sole purpose to determine if it is spam or not. After comments have been approved by Askimet, I have to approve them manually to ensure it does not contain any hateful or otherwise inappropriate content. I have the full authority to delete any comment I deem inappropriate.

How long this website retains your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so the website can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on the website (if any), also the personal information they provide in their user profile are stored. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

This website does not support contact forms, but you contact me directly via email. If you email me, I only keep that email and your personal data as long as needed. I do not store your details in a database unless it is work-related and I have invoiced you for myservices. In that case I need to keep your invoice details as long is legally required.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
